This song is what we are going to be using in the opening scene. We researched what people look for in a mafia/gangster film and we were able to gather that people expect music related to the clip above.

Second film review on the movie Snatch

From the beginning of the film you are able to see that they are in mid plot of a robbery and have come in disguise. The scene starts of very quite with a working environment in a bank but when one of the robbers opens his jacket the use on non-diegetic music being very upbeat which begins to create a sense of adrenaline in the film.

As the music begins to build a fast zoom on the owners face shows shock and confusion at the same time. This then leads to panic in the bank as the music increases quickly bringing a pace to the scene.

As the scene goes on a type of camera shot is used where the camera rotates as it zooms in on different characters. This type of shot isn’t used in many other films that makes it unique to this film. By using this type of shot at making it happen quickly you are able to tell that the robbery is quick as the music being used and the quick camera shots switching show how everything is being rushed in the film.

Medium and close of shots are used on the characters as they shout at people in the bank and as they rob safes and volts. By using these types of shots you are able to see who is in charge of the robbery and who is doing what during the scene.

A close up of a gun is shown where the shot is then paused and credits are shown of the film. This is a good way of showing the credits as it enables the viewer to see  who wrote and directed the film is and also been able to see the weapon being used as well.

As they enter the van shots are used where the camera is paused as they undress from their disguises step by step. This type of shot is useful as the viewer is able to see who is who in the film.

During this part of the opening scene one of the robbers was inspecting a stolen diamond that zooms in and the title of the movie is shown in the diamond. This type of shot is very clever and well used as the viewer is able to gather information of what is going to happen in the movie.

At the end of the opening scene shots of the main characters are taken where they are in the mid of doing something and made into a portrait and the name of the character comes up. This is very clever use of filming and shots as the viewer are able to gather information of who is who in the films.

The opening of The Godfather starts of in a dark badly lit area that doesn’t show much apart from the character talking. Only the characters face is shown in the opening shot not allowing the viewer to know where it is being filmed and what is going on.

As the scene continues the camera slowly begins to zoom out allowing the viewer to see where the film is being set and more of the room is being showed giving the viewer the thought of being able to see what props are being used. The use of Misc-en-scene shows how the use of costume allows the viewer to see what is happening in the room.

The use of Misc-en-scene shows how the use of costume allows the viewer to see what is happening in the room.

Once the camera has zoomed out you are able to see the camera shot coming from other a dominant male. This helps create a sense of power from this character even though he has yet to say anything. Now that the shot is more open you are able to see the character is sat behind the desk like a boss.

The shot then give a close up of the other character who was just being seen from behind, this allows the viewer to be aware of who the man with the power is and are now able to gain vague ideas from the film. The room still is poorly lit giving an effect of the scene trying to be shown as being secretive.

The shot has began to zoom out allow to see more of the character and how he is dressed showing how formal the meeting is. With this type of shot the viewer is able to tell that the man is wealthy and is probably the boss of the film.
